In a historic win for local government, the Federal Government has announced (ACLG), will meet in Canberra for the first time in more than a decade on 16 June. Local government Minister Catherine King announced that the newly reconvened Council of Local Government will meet in Canberra following ALGA’s National General Assembly on June 16 and will provide local government with a central role in national issues once more. Ms King said the re-established ACLG will bring councils, mayors, shire presidents, and local government stakeholders together with federal ministers to tackle the issues impacting the sector.

The ACLG will provide a valuable opportunity for mayors, shire presidents and councilors to hear directly from the Prime Minister and engage with Federal Ministers.
