Disaster Management and Recovery

Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program

Up to $34.5 million will be made available through Round 5A of the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program, designed to improve mobile connectivity across regional and remote Australia.

Disaster-prone areas, including bushfire-affected regions, will be one of three priority areas for this funding round, as well as major transport corridors. Funding will also be provided to trial new technologies and design options to allow mobile coverage to expand further across regional areas and ensure the Program remains valuable.

Council approvals are underway for 182 new base stations to be built under Round 5 of the Program, announced in April.
